Contemplating a change of address or a major life event can often be a time when we turn to our spiritual community and networks for support and guidance. In Marin County you can find a welcoming place to worship or engage in spiritual exploration no matter your denomination. In this month’s blog we offer a few options ( though by no means is this a comprehensive list) to start researching the array of worship and spiritual communities, for those contemplating a move to our community, seeking a personal transformation or contemplating re-engaging with your faith.

Beautifully sited up Blackfield Road in Tiburon. A large and joyous congregation in an expansive modern structure with great views from the large plaza perfect for mingling after service and lively Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. If you’re synagogue shopping in Southern Marin, definitely worth a look.
The clever billboards out front that set the tone for this congregation that will have you laughing with the Lord. Known for its organ music and musical director, you can kayak or paddleboard to this place of worship by coming up from nearby Richardson Bay.
Conveniently located near a Whole Foods in Mill Valley and Joe’s Taco Lounge, Buddhist are nothing if not practical. Where else can you take Ikebana, yoga and study the Dharma under one unassuming roof?
Down a quiet residential street, the Islamic Center is one of only two places of Islamic worship in Marin. They have one of the largest collections of Islamic books in the country and provide a variety of services to the community including notary public services.

Beautiful, vintage church in a picture postcard setting in the hills of Sausalito with a tight-knit congregation and commitment to social justice issues. It’s a great place for a wedding too, so if you have a celebration coming up, talk to Father Chip.
An aerobic church service in Sausalito, it’s a mixture of Sunday morning gospel service, Friday night dance club and Saturday morning workout. The gyrating, spinning and twirling can bring you to a sense of spiritual enlightenment.
Something for everyone!
By no means a comprehensive list, there are many warm and welcoming communities, churches and congregations with something for everyone. And for those who prefer less structure, and no structures there is always a strenuous hike to worship on the trails of our lady, Mount Tamalpais. Or perhaps a bike ride up Seven Sisters to get you in a reflective mood. The nature that is all around us is as perfect a creation as one can imagine and can open our hearts and minds to enlightenment.
